
Bellamy Young was born Amy Maria Young in February 1970. 1 She is an American singer, actress, producer, and actor best known for her portrayal of Melody "Mellie," Grant in ABC's Scandal, 2012-2018. In 2014, the Critics' Choice Television awarded her the best Supporting Actress award in a Drama Series. She starred in the 2019 season in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young's acting journey began as a stage actress. Her Broadway debut came in 1997 as Mary the Life. The Life. Some of her off-Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's We Rock Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). She made her TV debut as the character Dr. Courtney Evans in 1995 on the NBC's Another World soap opera. In addition, she guest-starred in Law & Order in 1997 as well as 1998 in two distinct role. She made her movie debut on the big screen in 1999. She played a minor performance on Black and White, a crime-drama. In the following years, she was a part of several independent films.
